The inspiration for the Real Construction Project, which begins in 2022, was a comment from a student saying, “I want to build my own house!”
Today, it is common for housing manufacturers to build a house and we pay back the cost of the house over the years. There are certainly advantages to having a professional build it. However, I have my doubts about the fact that this has become the norm.
At Suikoushya, we share with you the traditional Japanese methods of house building: Ishibadate (post standing on stone) , wooden framework, and soil wall : and the high spirituality of the Japanese who face woodworking.
I want you to self-build a house that is kind to both the body and the environment, made of materials that return to the soil!
We, Suikoushya, plan to establish a school building in Ile de France in 2022.
This is a project that we want to build with Suikoushya graduates and professional woodworkers. Through this real construction project, Takami would like to pass not only Japanese woodworking techniqs and craftsmanship but also the spirit of the Japanese people involved in making things.
