The felling of the trees to build the Suikoushya school building has finally begun!
Before starting to cut down the trees, we first greet the god of the trees and the god of the mountains.
Select one main tree and offer nature’s bounty (salt and sake) to express gratitude to nature. This is the cycle of life.
Thank you for the blessings of nature and pray for the safety of the construction work.
With this action, we focus our attention on the task of “felling” itself and act calmly. Remaining in awe of nature, in other words, leads to safety.

We are creating online learning materials where you can learn about Japanese carpentry in English through the actual construction of the building!
It will be on sale at the kickstarter price from November 14th to December 6th, 2021, so be sure to check it out!
