Today, I would like to talk about 竿縁天井(Saobuchi-tenjo), one of the ceilings in Japanese wooden architecture.
It is a ceiling made of thin wood or bamboo, placed at equal intervals around the edges, and topped with a ceiling board. It is the most common ceiling in traditional Japanese architecture.
