About material of kanna-dai
The material of kanna-dai is mainly japanese oak. Look at it from below and check the grain.
1: Masame: It is difficult to reduce the volume of the Kanna-dai, and although there is little deviation, it is fragile.
2: Itame: It decreases sharply, but it is hard to break.
3: Oimasame … It has the characteristics of both Masame and Itame.
The grain of wood used for kanna-dais depends on the region, climate and preferences.
We, Suikoushya, plan to establish a school building in Ile de France in 2022.
This is a project that we want to build with Suikoushya graduates and professional woodworkers. Through this real construction project, Takami would like to pass not only Japanese woodworking techniqs and craftsmanship but also the spirit of the Japanese people involved in making things.
