Local wood and soil production and consumption!
To build the school, Takami went into the mountains and chose trees. Trees that grow in the sun, exposed to rain or wind have different quirks depending on where they grow. But it’s not a good idea not to use the tree just because it has a quirk (this also applies to humans)!
At Suikoushya, we do not decide the type and size of the material after designing, but design it according to the material gathered in the area. While looking at the quirks of the materials, Takami specifically imagines a building.
I’m really looking forward to seeing what kind of interesting trees can be harvested in this mountain!
We, Suikoushya, plan to establish a school building in Ile de France in 2022.
This is a project that we want to build with Suikoushya graduates and professional woodworkers. Through this real construction project, Takami would like to pass not only Japanese woodworking techniqs and craftsmanship but also the spirit of the Japanese people involved in making things.
