About Shoji
Shoji will be used at the entrance of the Suikoushya school building to be built in Ile de France.
Depending on how the wooden frame is assembled and the proportions, you can feel various tastes from Japanese to Western.
What are the benefits of shoji?
-Blocks direct sunlight and creates a soft light environment.
-Improves the heat insulation of the opening to some extent.
-Transmits sounds and signs while controlling the line of sight.
However, Japanese paper tears and discolors over time, so it must be repaired and covered again. Carpenter Takami wants to enjoy the work of replacing Japanese paper as a workshop with local residents!

We, Suikoushya, plan to establish a school building in Ile de France in 2022.

This is a project that we want to build with Suikoushya graduates and professional woodworkers. Through this real construction project, Takami would like to pass not only Japanese woodworking techniqs and craftsmanship but also the spirit of the Japanese people involved in making things.
