Introduction to Japanese woodworking tools.

Adjusting the tool:Nomi (Chisel)

A.Setting the ring.

B. Flattening the back of the Nomi (Chisel)

Required tools:

  1. Steel Plate
  2. Sharpening stone (Whetstone) #1000

C. Sharpening the bevel of the Nomi (Chisel)

  1. Sharpening Stones #1000 and #6000
  2. Diamond Plate or a concrete block

 

Sharpening the Kanna (Hand Plane)

Includes tapping the Kanna and adjusting the chip-breaker
