🌿 Daikaku-ji Kominka(traditional japanese wooden house) Renovation Project

Just a few minutes from Kyoto’s Daikaku-ji Temple,

down a quiet narrow lane,

a new story is about to begin—inside an old Kyoto house.

7 minutes to Daikaku-ji,

12 minutes to the Bamboo Grove,

15 minutes to Nison-in,

and 20 minutes to Togetsu Bridge.

Spring breeze, summer cicadas, autumn light, winter calm.

Here, in a place where the seasons and culture of Kyoto are alive,

we face the wood, refine our skills and our spirit,

and breathe new life into a home.

Every beam, every grain of wood—

touched, carved, and polished by hand.

The sound of chisels echoes,

and the scent of wood fills the air.

This is more than a construction site.

It is a classroom where tradition is practiced,

and passed on to the future.

All lessons are conducted in English,

welcoming participants from around the world to learn through hands-on experience and to feel the essence of Japanese craftsmanship.

When the house is completed,

it will be offered for sale—

a home imbued with the quiet beauty

and warmth of handmade craft.

“Learn by doing. Create by caring.”

A new way of learning from Suikoushya,

born in the heart of Kyoto.
