About Shinmochi-material (Material including core) and Shinsari-material (Material with core removed)
Shinmochi-material: The material with the remaining core is very durable. It is often used for structural materials such as pillars. However, when the wood dries, it tends to crack toward the tree core, so “Sewari” is often applied to the wood.
Shinsari-material: There is little warping or twisting, and the grain is beautiful. The wood grain is clogged and you can see the straight “Masame”.
If you want to make a coreless material, you will inevitably need a large log. Therefore, this is expensive.
We, Suikoushya, plan to establish a school building in Ile de France in 2022.
This is a project that we want to build with Suikoushya graduates and professional woodworkers. Through this real construction project, Takami would like to pass not only Japanese woodworking techniqs and craftsmanship but also the spirit of the Japanese people involved in making things.
