About seware-umeki
The drier the wood material, the stronger it becomes, so Japanese carpenters make cracks in the pillars before building the house (Seware). This will dry the materials to the center. It also prevents cracks in strange places on the pillars after the house is built.
However, if the pillar is used in a visible place, fill the crack with wood (Seware Umeki). It’s a lot of work, but this effort is very beautiful.
Let’s enjoy woodworking together😀
We, Suikoushya, plan to establish a school building in Ile de France in 2022.
This is a project that we want to build with Suikoushya graduates and professional woodworkers. Through this real construction project, Takami would like to pass not only Japanese woodworking techniqs and craftsmanship but also the spirit of the Japanese people involved in making things.
