About wooden fittings [蔀戸:Shitomido]
One of my favorite wooden fittings is called “Shitomido”. This is to prevent sunlight, wind and rain, and cold. When opening, pull up and fix. It’s dynamic and open, but opening and closing can be a daunting task.
In the old days, it was often used in front of traditional townhouses. The upper part is “Shitomido” and the lower part is a foldable bench. When folded, it becomes a shutter, and when opened, it becomes an open space.
I want to install it in the school building to be built in Ile de France in 2022!
We, Suikoushya, plan to establish a school building in Ile de France in 2022.
This is a project that we want to build with Suikoushya graduates and professional woodworkers. Through this real construction project, Takami would like to pass not only Japanese woodworking techniqs and craftsmanship but also the spirit of the Japanese people involved in making things.
